Lodge 46 Charitable Foundation Report
The Charitable Foundation has the following recent activity to report:
Donations
A Christmas party was held by our Foundation in December 2011 for approximately 100 children from the YES Foundation (Youth Consultation Services) from Bergen County. These children are in shelters, therapeutic residences, foster care, special Ed schools, autism services and community based programs. YES provides these children with a safe and secure living environment where they can rebuild their lives and develop the skills to reach their potential. The Christmas party was held and Santa made a visit to give out gifts to the children, and a lunch was provided to them by our Foundation.
Our Charity Foundation also made a donation to Josephine's Garden Fund at Hackensack University Medical Center in the name of the child of one of our members, Josephine Rispoli who recently passed away.
A donation was made to the family of Chelsea Ward, granddaughter of our member Ed Ward to help Chelsea in her medical treatment of leukemia.
Toys and gifts were donated to Shelter our Sisters of Bergen County, a shelter for families of domestic abuse. In addition, Christmas toys were dropped off to the shelter for the children.
Our foundation also gave out toys and gifts to the Pediatric Cancer Center for Children at Hackensack University Medical Center and Tomorrows Children Wing during this past Christmas. Santa also accompanied us during our visit to many of the children in the Center.
Our Foundation regularly donates food from our many meetings and parties to the NJ Veterans Home in Paramus, NJ. We have also donated many games, puzzles and other items during Christmas time.
Donations were also made to the American Cancer Society and other various Police Departments that have suffered a loss in their organization, especially the recent passing of a New Jersey State Trooper. The Foundation sold special New Jersey State Trooper tee shirts to raise funds for his family.
Thank you to the members that helped with these affairs and visits, especially during visits to the hospital to see the smiles on the children at the Hospital. Also, a thank you to those that donated either funds or items to the cause.
